• National Endowment for the Humanities to study poetry with Dr. Helen Vendler, poetry critic, at Harvard.
• National Endowment for the Humanities to study “The Literature of Suffering” with Dr. Terrence Tilley at St. Michael’s College, Vermont.
• National Endowment for Humanities Masterwork Study Grant to facilitate study for high school teachers in Southwest Literature. Albuquerque Public Schools and the University of New Mexico Academic Honors Program. Curriculum study titled “Southwest Literature for High School Teachers.”
• APS/University of New Mexico grant to lead seminar in poetry for high school teachers. Curriculum study titled “Pearls for the Casting.”
• Scholarship to study at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in Oxford, England (two summers). Part of doctoral studies.

Each Month I Sing granted the American Book Award, 2008, by the Before Columbus Foundation, Berkeley. This title also won the Colorado Independent Publishers EVVY award for first place in poetry, 2008.
